About CoverCalc

CoverCalc is a free cover-sizing tool for self-publishers. It does one thing thoroughly: turns your trim size, page count and paper type into exact cover dimensions and a print-ready guide template — for both paperback and case-laminate hardcover.

How our numbers are verified

Every formula on this site is calibrated against the output of Amazon KDP's official cover calculator. We check spine widths and full-cover dimensions across paper types, bindings and page counts, and we re-verify when KDP changes its specs. If you ever find a number that differs from the official generator's output, tell us — that's a bug we want fixed the same day.

How we make money

The calculator and templates are free with no signup. Some links to third-party software may become affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you buy through them — at no extra cost to you. We only list tools that are widely used in the self-publishing community, and affiliate status never affects what the calculator tells you.

CoverCalc is an independent tool. Amazon, Kindle and KDP are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. Always run your final files through KDP's own previewer before publishing — our templates get you there correctly the first time, but Amazon's previewer is the final word.
