Free KDP Cover Templates (PDF & 300 DPI PNG)
A KDP cover template is a guide layer you place under your artwork: it marks the trim lines, spine zone, safe areas, bleed and barcode box for your exact trim size and page count. Design on top of it, delete the guide layer, export — no guesswork, no rejected uploads.
Every template below is generated live for your exact page count — unlike static template packs, you'll never round to "about 200 pages" and end up with a wrapped spine.

How to use the template
- Download the PDF (for InDesign/Affinity) or 300 DPI PNG (for Photoshop/Canva/GIMP) from the calculator.
- Place it as the bottom layer of a document at the template's exact pixel or physical size — don't scale it.
- Design over it: background art must cover the pink bleed area completely; text and logos stay inside the cyan dashed safe area; spine text stays inside the spine safe zone (79+ pages only).
- Leave the barcode zone clear on the back cover (or place your own ISBN barcode there).
- Delete the template layer, flatten, export as PDF (preferred) at the same physical size, and upload to KDP.
Template vs. Cover Creator: which should you use?
KDP's built-in Cover Creator is fine for a quick interior-only book, but it locks you into its layouts and its output looks like it. A template gives you full design control in any editor — and takes about the same time once you have the right dimensions. If you're paying a designer, send them the PDF template from the calculator along with your page count and paper type; it's exactly what they need.
